The Warthen Old Jail

The Warthen Old Jail

Built of logs hand-hewn from local timber, the Warthen Old Jail is the oldest wooden jail in Georgia. In his transport to trial for treason in Richmond, VA, Aaron Burr is said to have spent a night in this jail in 1807. This site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
